Community Guidelines
The Sleep Shop community exists so real people can swap real advice about sleep — gear that worked, gear that didn't, what helped them through a rough stretch. These are the house rules. They keep the place worth showing up to.
1. Be kind. Be human.
Talk to people the way you'd talk to a friend who just told you they haven't slept well in months. No personal attacks, no pile-ons, no condescension. Disagree with ideas, not people.
2. Share experience, not prescriptions.
You can share what worked for you. You cannot diagnose, prescribe, or pose as a clinician unless you actually are one (and we'll verify). "Here's what my doctor told me" — great. "You have sleep apnea, do X" — not okay.
3. No spam, no covert affiliate links.
If you sell a product, you may not promote it in the community without going through our brand vetting process. No referral links, no "DM me," no copy-paste recommendations across threads. We will remove and ban for this.
4. No harassment, hate, or harm.
No slurs, no targeted harassment, no doxxing, no content that encourages self-harm. We err hard on the side of removing.
5. Pick a community name you stand behind.
You don't have to use your real name. You do have to pick a name (not "anonymous") so people can recognize you across threads. Impersonating someone else — a brand, a clinician, another member — is not allowed.
6. Keep it on-topic-ish.
Sleep is wide. Mattresses, pillows, CPAP, menopause, anxiety, kids' bedtimes, shift work, recovery from surgery — all fair game. Crypto pitches, political flame wars, and unrelated drama — not here.
7. 13 and up.
You must be at least 13 years old to join the community. If you're under 18, please don't share personal contact info publicly.
8. We're a community, not a clinic.
Nothing in this community is medical advice. If something feels serious — chest pain, severe sleep apnea symptoms, suicidal thoughts — please talk to a doctor or call your local emergency line.
9. Reporting and moderation.
Use the suggestion box to flag a problem, a person, or a pattern. Moderators may remove posts, lock threads, or remove members. We try to explain why. We don't always get it right — tell us when we don't.
10. The vibe we're going for.
This community is in control — not the oligarchs, not the algorithm, not the highest-bidder advertiser. Treat it like a porch with good lighting and the right people on it. Help someone sleep better tonight.
